Amelia Vargas

Hi! I’m Amelia, a data scientist based in the Pacific Northwest.

I’m a Senior Research Analyst with the State of Oregon. I became the first R Admin for my agency, the Department of Consumer and Business Services, in 2022. Most of my work is related to creating new statistical analyses, building analytical tools for internal teams, and providing guidance on research and evaluation methods.

I’m currently interested in predictive modeling and using deep learning (PyTorch) in insurance.
